Did You Plan It?
Oftentimes, we do need the answers directly from our teenagers, because many of them don’t really know where they are going. As you see them hanging out late at night, or on weekends, because they are just following their peers, or they are controlled by their impulses. This question can be asked of someone contemplating relocation as well. It could also be asked to a person who lost his or her way as I see so many people losing their ways these days. The same question could be asked to a husband or wife who wants to end their relationship. You see how serious and encompassing this question is?
If you are not sure of where you’re going, you will never get there or you may not get there on time. Where are you going? This question I believe can be asked and answered in different ways by different people and in different situations. Parents often ask their children the above question, likewise children to their parents, partners, friends, teachers to students, and on it goes. Everyone at one time or another, must have asked this question “where are you going?”
Life is a journey that no one can take for us or spare us.
However, in this article, I asked the question in a different context. I’m asking this question to draw your attention to your life’s dreams. Where are you going with your life dreams? Where are you going with the vision you have about your life? Are your decisions, and daily activities navigating you towards your goal whatever that is? Do you have a clear roadmap on how to achieve your life dreams? It is important that you be sure of where you are now and where you are going from here.
These questions shouldn’t offend you nor scare you, instead, the goal is to use it to stir the awareness for your location if you will, because life, as we all know, is a journey. We all are here on a mission and for a purpose. Until you understand this and make the necessary detours where necessary, it will be a mistake
Plan Your Journey
Just like in every day normal travels, you don’t just wake up and jump inside your vehicle and take off for a long journey without any prior preparation, I believe that you’re smart enough to know that you don’t travel without a destination in mind, without preparation of how long the journey will take and so forth. I believe that you must have some prior preparation. For instance, you will need to check your car to make sure that it is in good shape to take you on a long journey. You will need to fill your tank, check the tires, and fluids, etc. and that’s part of the preparation, am I wrong? It is better we plan our life’s as to prioritize what matters most, and what gets our best time and energy investments daily.
I know for so many people, it is nothing but our business, job, career. But proper planning will give you a better picture and realistic view of your priorities and how to go about them. Without planning, chaos, and confusion reigns. Planning will keep us focused on our journey because we know where we are heading. therefore we don’t allow room for distractions and wrong exits or detours.
I think that similar preparation is required of you as you embark on your life journey for a life of freedom and fulfillment. You will be required to equip yourself with courage because courage is quite essential for human experience. Courage will give you the ability to go beyond fear, discouragement, self-doubt that may stop you from embarking on the journey of your life.
I know how fear works because I have been a victim of it. I know that if allowed it can paralyze even your spirit. I know, why I am running late now in my own life, is because I was held captive by fear, fear of failure, fear of people’s opinions and perceptions, and fear of stepping out of my comfort zone.
I was afraid of so many things at a young age. But today, I can declare it on the rooftop that I can’t any longer be controlled by my past fears. I am reprograming my subconscious mind with courage, faith, and love. That’s why I stated in my previous article, the importance of a new mindset. A mindset that is open to learning, growth, and change. We all have the potential for growth, for improvement in every area of our lives.
“we judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing,
while others judge us by what we have already done”.
You may be a leader in one level of leadership or another. For instance, if you are a parent, you are automatically a leader. This means that the responsibility of training, mentoring, leading your children or a child lies on you. And the children will be watching you, watching your choices, decision-making skills, plans, and they will like to know where you are going, where you are leading them to. Especially, if it is a parent that is struggling with moral values. If it is a parent addicted to drugs, alcohol, or other self-destructive habits; your children would like to know where you are going with such kind of lifestyle and why they should follow your lead as a parent. Calvin once said that.
“There is nothing more rewarding as to make people
realize that they are worthwhile in this life.”
